- Medical waste
- Construction or contractor-generated debris
- Bulk items (See Bulk Waste Collection section)
Composting and Waste Reduction
Residents are encouraged to consider home composting as a way to reduce the amount of household waste placed in trash carts. Composting helps divert organic materials from landfills while producing nutrient-rich soil for gardens and landscaping.
When food scraps and organic waste are placed in landfills, they break down without oxygen and generate methane gas, a powerful greenhouse gas that contributes significantly to climate change. Methane is far more effective at trapping heat in the atmosphere than carbon dioxide.
Composting allows organic materials to decompose with oxygen, which greatly reduces the production of methane gases. By composting at home, residents can help:
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- Decrease the volume of waste sent to landfills
- Improve soil health and reduce the need for chemical fertilizers
- Support environmental sustainability efforts
Common compostable materials may include:
- Fruit and vegetable scraps
- Coffee grounds and filters
- Eggshells
- Leaves and small yard trimmings
Residents who choose to compost should ensure their compost systems are properly maintained to prevent odors, pests, or other nuisances.
Trash Cart Placement Guidelines
To ensure proper and safe collection:
- Place carts at the curb with the lid opening facing the street
- Do not block sidewalks, driveways, or storm drains
- Ensure there are no overhead obstructions
- Keep carts at least 3 feet away from:
- Other carts
- Vehicles
- Mailboxes
- Trees or fixed objects
Cart Use and Care
- Do not overfill carts; lids must remain fully closed
- Residents may not reload carts for additional service on the same collection day
- Carts should be cleaned periodically by residents using a hose
- Carts should be removed from the curb after collection and stored properly
Trash Cart Sizes and Weight Limits
Residents may choose from the following cart sizes:
- 35-gallon cart – up to 125 lbs
- 65-gallon cart – up to 220 lbs
- 95-gallon cart – up to 340 lbs
Selecting the largest cart available is recommended for larger households or residents with higher waste volume.

- Service will resume on the next scheduled collection day
- During emergencies or severe weather, residents should monitor the City's website for service updates
