Youth Advisory Board

This board was created to provide a venue  for youth to engage with the City Commission and learn about local governance, leadership, and civics. Their duties include:

  • Identify, research, and analyze issues impacting youth in the community .
  • Advise the City Commission on matters impacting youth residing and attending schools within the city.
  • Recommend social, educational, cultural, and recreational activities for youth within the city and assist with implementing those activities.
  • Participate in service and community projects.

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Students must currently reside in the city.
  • Must be enrolled in grades 10-12 in a participating
  • Pembroke Pines High School.
  • Be recommended by their respective Principal.
  • Must have and continue to maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.

Arts & Culture Advisory Board

The Arts and Culture Advisory Board meets monthly to serve as a voice and in a responsive capacity to the artistic and cultural needs of the community, encourage artistic opportunities for the residents, citizens, and visitors of the city and to foster a positive and creative liaison between the city commission and the artistic community. Their duties include:

  • Identify artistic and cultural opportunities in the city and county.
  • Seek out artists and performers to exhibit or perform for the citizens residents and visitors of the city.
  • Assist and advise the City Commission to address the cultural needs of the city.
  • Develop opportunities and recommend initiatives in cooperation with the city for artisans to provide exposure to their craft.
  • Assist in the development of long-range strategic plans to establish comprehensive vision of the city’s cultural initiatives.
  • Assist and advise in development efforts including grant administration and other fund-raising efforts

Diversity & Heritage Advisory Board

The mission of the Diversity and Heritage Advisory Board is to promote awareness and to celebrate the rich Heritage and the vast Diversity of the City of Pembroke Pines, and make recommendations to the City Commission on diversity and equity strategies that strengthen connections among diverse community groups and with city government. Their duties include:

  • Advise the City Commission on diversity and equity strategies that strengthen connections among diverse community groups and with city government.
  • Advise the City Commission on exploring new methods and techniques to acknowledge tangible and intangible cultural heritage and expand recognition programs related to heritage preservation activities.
  • Advise the City Commission on ways to work with public and private stakeholders in the city to increase understanding of the diverse groups that make up the city.
