District 1
Commissioner Thomas Good, Jr. was born in Miami and raised in Broward County. After graduating from Cooper City High School, he enlisted in the Navy at the Naval Recruitment Office in Pembroke Pines. He honorably served for six years, most of it aboard the USS Caron. As a veteran, Commissioner Good is deeply committed to supporting programs for both past and present service members.
Following his military service, Commissioner Good began working in municipal government, focusing on utility services. While working, he attended Broward Community College in the evenings, earning an Associate of Arts Degree with Honors. He then pursued further education at the University of Florida, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Business.
Commissioner Good has been representing our community since 2010, initially elected as Commissioner to the South Broward Drainage District and later to the City Commission in 2018, proudly representing District 1. With over 40 years of professional experience and his years as an elected public official, he has gained extensive knowledge in public works & utilities, environmental services, transportation, affordable housing, economic development, water management, solid waste, finance, and government policy development.
Throughout his career, Commissioner Good has demonstrated a deep commitment to his community and a passion for addressing local issues. His dual experience as an administrative leader and elected official has made him a respected figure in municipal governance and infrastructure development.
Commissioner Good actively engages with residents and stakeholders, volunteering with several local non-profit organizations. He has served on various boards and committees at both national and local levels, including the National League of Cities Energy, Environment & Natural Resource Board, Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization and Executive Board, Broward County Human Rights Board, Broward County Water Advisory Board, and the City of Pembroke Pines Affordable Housing Advisory Committee.
Commissioner Good and his wife, Patti, have been married for over 35 years and have two children, Thomas and Alexis. Both children were born and raised in Pembroke Pines, attended local schools, and graduated from Florida State University. They now live in Florida, pursuing life goals.
