Chief Kipp M. Shimpeno has proudly served the City of Pembroke Pines since graduating from the 169th session of the Broward County Police Academy in 1993.
Chief Shimpeno served as a Patrol Officer and Field Training Officer until 2004, at which time he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. During his time as a Sergeant, Chief Shimpeno oversaw various Patrol squads, the K-9 Unit, and later various Investigation Division units such as General Crimes, Crime Scene, and Auto Theft. Chief Shimpeno was subsequently promoted to the position of Captain in 2013 , where he served in the capacity of a Patrol Shift Captain until 2015 when he was assigned as the Investigations Division Captain overseeing all investigative units.
Chief Shimpeno was promoted to the rank of Major in 2016 and oversaw the Operations Bureau which includes the Patrol, Investigations, and Special Operations Divisions. During his career with the Pembroke Pines Police Department, Chief Shimpeno has completed thousands of hours of specialized training. In 2018, Chief Shimpeno was named the Deputy Chief of Operations until his promotion to Chief of Police in January of 2019.
Prior to joining the Pembroke Pines Police Department, Chief Shimpeno attended Florida State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Social Science.
