Captain Tony Cerino began his law enforcement career in 1997 and has proudly served the City of Pembroke Pines as a police officer since 1999. Captain Cerino graduated from the Broward County Police Academy, class #184 in 1997.
Captain Cerino served as a patrol officer until 2006, at which time he promoted to the rank of Sergeant. During his time as a sergeant, Captain Cerino worked in the Patrol Division until 2012 when he was selected to oversee the Internal Affairs Unit. In 2015 he was promoted to the rank of Captain, where he has served in the Operations Bureau overseeing the Afternoon and Midnight Shift Patrol shifts, the Investigations Division, and most recently in the Administration Bureau as the Support Services Captain.
Prior to joining the Pembroke Pines Police Department Captain Cerino earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice and had two years of prior law enforcement experience. Captain Cerino is a graduate of the University of Louisville’s, Southern Police Institute’s 62nd session of the Command Officers Development Course, Nova Southeastern University’s Executive Leadership course, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police Leadership in Police Organizations course.
Captain Cerino has also received several commendations over his career with the police department.
Captain Cerino currently supervises the Administrative Bureau and Code Compliance Unit.
