1. Does the drinking water meet EPA standards?

Yes, our water meets and exceeds all of EPA established standards. During 2005, numerous analyses were performed by the Water Plant laboratory, the City’s certified lab, and certified independent labs for various constituents and contaminants that may be in the drinking water.

2. Is bottled water safer than tap water?

The safety of bottled water and tap water depends on the source. Water quality monitoring and source protection, as well as treatment and testing, ultimately determine the quality of the finished product. In the United States, tap water is monitored and tested rigorously.

3. Does a home water treatment device make tap water safer and more healthful?

Filters may change the taste, smell, or appearance of tap water, but will not necessarily make the water safer to drink. All home treatment devices require regular maintenance or water quality problems may result.
