To qualify as a mayoral candidate, the citizen must be a voter in good standing in Broward County, and have been a resident of the City for at least 180 days immediately and continuously prior to qualifying for office.

To run as a candidate for a commission district seat, the citizen must be a voter in good standing in Broward County, and have resided within their designated election district for at least 180 days immediately and continuously prior to qualifying for elective office.
