1. When are City elections held?

Elections are held the second Tuesday in March on even-numbered years. The mayor and districts two and three commissioners were elected in 2012 to four-year terms, districts one and four commissioners were elected in 2010 to four-year terms.

2. What is required to qualify for candidacy?

To qualify as a mayoral candidate, the citizen must be a voter in good standing in Broward County, and have been a resident of the City for at least 180 days immediately and continuously prior to qualifying for office.

To run as a candidate for a commission district seat, the citizen must be a voter in good standing in Broward County, and have resided within their designated election district for at least 180 days immediately and continuously prior to qualifying for elective office.

3. Can I request an absentee ballot for any reason?

Yes. Contact the Broward County Supervisor of Elections to review instructions and request your Absentee Ballot
