1. How do I report a crime?

Dial 911 for emergencies. For non-emergencies, call 954-764-HELP (4357).

2. How do I file a report about something that is not criminal in nature?

Civil cases are filed in county court, 954-831-6565. However, you may also make a non-criminal report with the Pembroke Pines Police Department for documentation purposes only.

3. What will happen to my case after I make a report?

In most misdemeanor cases where the victim wants to prosecute, the victim follows up with the State Attorney’s Office to file charges. They are located at:

In felony cases, the Probable Cause Affidavit, reports and statements are forwarded by the Pembroke Pines Police Department’s Case Filing Unit to the State Attorney’s Office. The State Attorney’s Office determines which cases they will prosecute.

4. How can I get a copy of a police report?

Florida State Statute 119 governs the Public Records Law. Reports can take up to ten (10) business days for availability. Copies of police reports can be obtained at the Pembroke Pines Police Department, Records Unit, located at:

They are open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., excluding holidays and weekends.

The cost of a police report is $0.15 per page, or $0.20 for a double-sided copy. Certified copies of reports are $1 per page. If extensive research is needed to complete a request, additional fees will apply.

Only those individuals involved in a crash or their agent can obtain a copy of the crash report within 60 days of the crash date. An affidavit will be required to obtain such report.

5. What do I do if a report is incorrect?

If your report contains inaccurate information, the officer that handled the original incident can make changes to the report. If the officer is not available, a supplemental report can be completed by any officer.

6. How do I contact the officer that handled my report?

7. Will a detective follow up on my case?

A detective will be assigned to almost all felony cases and domestic violence misdemeanors.

8. Where do I obtain a final disposition of a case?

9. How long do I have to wait before reporting a person missing?

There is no specified time frame that one has to wait to file a missing person report.

10. How can I get a traffic concern addressed?

Contact the Traffic Unit at 954-431-2778, or the Pembroke Pines Police Department at 954-431-2200.

11. How can I get something done about a continuous barking dog?

Call the non-emergency police line at 954-431-2200 for an officer to respond. If the issue continues, the City's Code Enforcement Department should be notified at 954-431-4466 to further investigate.

14. How can I find out if someone was arrested?

15. How do I evict a tenant?

An eviction is a civil matter handled at county court. For more information visit the Broward County website.

16. Where can I get a restraining order?

Restraining Orders can be obtained at the Broward County Court House located at:

17. What happens to unclaimed property?

Found items are considered abandoned after 90 days and are subject to destruction, donation to charity, or auction. Items to be auctioned are submitted to a police auction website, which handles all aspects of the auctions, including the terms, rules, bidding arrangements, and shipping policies.

Evidential items related to crimes other than capital felonies will be disposed of after the final disposition of the courts; as outlined within the Florida State Statutes relating to evidence retention.

18. How do I get my property back that is being held by the Pembroke Pines Police Department?

Please call the Evidence Unit at 954-436-3237 to confirm that we have your property and that it is available for release. Appointments are recommended and in some cases required. You will need your case number and photo identification. In some cases other documentation is required.

19. What are the Evidence Unit's operating hours?

The Evidence Unit is open to the Public for retrieval of property from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. We're located at main police headquarters at 9500 Pines Blvd, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33024.

20. Can someone other than myself pick up my property?

Yes, however that person must have signed, written authorization from you (naming that person as the recipient) to pick up your property. Your signature MUST be notarized. The recipient must also show a valid photo ID to retrieve your property.

21. I've been notified that you have property of mine and I no longer want it. What should I do?

Just send us a letter stating that you no longer want the property and we will dispose of the items for you. If the item is sold at auction, however, you are not entitled to any of the proceeds. Letters can be addressed to the Evidence Unit, and mailed to 9500 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines, Florida 33024.

22. Can I claim something that I found and turned in to the police?

23. How can I claim my firearm you are storing?

24. Where do I dispute or pay for a parking ticket?

Parking tickets can be disputed through the Broward County Clerk's Office. You may also pay a parking ticket online via the County Clerk's website by clicking on the 'Quick Pay' option on the Home screen; www.browardclerk.org

25. Where do I pay a ticket issued to me?

Tickets are payable at the Broward County Court House. For more information or to pay online, visit the Clerk of the Courts website.

26. Do you offer Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) verification checks?

Vehicle Identification Number verifications checks are available using a public notary or police officer at the main station.

27. Do you offer child car seat installations?

Child cart seat installations are available by appointment. Please call the Community Affairs Unit at 954-436-3274 to schedule.

28. Do you provide fingerprint services?

Fingerprints are available at 9500 Pines Boulevard on Tuesdays, from 8:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.  Requesters should bring their own fingerprint cards, and appointments are preferred (954-431-2200).  The cost for fingerprinting services is $10 per card for City of Pembroke Pines residents, and $15 per card for non-residents.

29. Where can I get a background check?

A local background check for incidents which occurred in the City of Pembroke Pines is available at Police Departments Records Section located at:

Complaints will be accepted in person, by telephone, or by letter. It is preferred that the complaint be made in person by the individual who is directly involved in the allegation against the Pembroke Pines Police Department employee.
