Captain Kaitlyn Percival has proudly served the City of Pembroke Pines since graduating from the 278th session of the Broward County Police Academy in 2012, where she was honored with the prestigious Frankie Shivers Award in recognition of her outstanding performance and leadership.
Prior to joining the Pembroke Pines Police Department, Captain Percival attended the University of Central Florida, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Hospitality Management. She later obtained a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Barry University.
Throughout her career, Captain Percival has served in a variety of key roles, including Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Threat Assessment Team member, and a Crisis Response Team member. In 2019, she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In this capacity, she served as a Patrol Sergeant, General Crimes Investigation Sergeant, and Robbery Homicide Sergeant. She also supervised the department’s Crisis Response Team.
Captain Percival comes from a multi-generational law enforcement family, with several generations of officers serving before her in other agencies. Continuing that legacy of public service, she has built her own career within the department, ultimately rising through the ranks to Captain in 2026.
During her tenure, Captain Percival has received numerous commendations and awards, including a Life Saving Award.
