Pembroke Pines, FL (November 20, 2019) - Start the New Year off right by becoming a member of the Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center. There are classes, programs, activities and special events. Registration is currently underway for the 2019-2020 Afternoon and Evening Classes at the City of Pembroke Pines Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center Campus located at 301 NW 103rd Avenue in Pembroke Pines (off Johnson Street, one block west of Palm Avenue).
Adults 60 years of age or older may register for the free membership, adults 18 thru 59 years of age can register with an annual fee of $20. Krav Maga Self Defense
Krav Maga is a self-defense system for the Israeli Defense Forces and Israeli Security Forces. It consists of a combination of fighting techniques with a focus on real world situations. Students learn to defend themselves against a wide array of attacks in the quickest and most efficient way possible. Flamenco Dancing
Luna Calé is a professional dance company created to promote flamenco music, dance and Hispanic culture. Our goal is to support growth of both student and professional flamenco artists by sponsoring performances, flamenco music and dance education opportunities. Fine Jewelry Design with Michael Stahl
Using semi-precious stones, pearls, beads and Sterling Silver, students will create exquisite one-of-a-kind fine jewelry pieces. Offered in six-week sessions on Tuesdays: 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. (First class meets from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.). Session currently underway and goes through 12/3/19. Belly Basics with Naiilah!
This easy to follow belly dancing course is designed for both beginners and advanced students. Shake to the music and have fun while exercising! Intro to Fused Glass
Learn the fundamental techniques required for creating unique one-of-a-kind kiln fired fused glass projects. Classes are offered in six week sessions on Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 pm and are currently underway and go through 12/12/19. No Class on 11/28/19. Pines West Camera Club

Glaze Formulation One Day Workshop
An all-inclusive one day workshop for the seasoned pottery student. Learn basic glaze formulas, weights and measures, colorants, mixing and storing techniques. Each student will take home 3 containers of glaze they made from scratch! Class offered on Wednesday 2/19/2020 only from 6:00pm -9:00pm. Cost is $45 per person and includes all materials.
