16th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive

Pembroke Pines, FL  (October 23, 2019) – The season of eating and giving is underway for The 16th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive by the Community Services staff at the City of Pembroke Pines Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center, located at 301 NW 103rd Avenue in Pembroke Pines(off Johnson Street, one block west of Palm Avenue).  Donations for the Thanksgiving Food Drive must be in no later than Friday, November 15, 2019. 

Donations of nonperishable canned or boxed foods, cash or checks (made payable to City of Pembroke Pines) and grocery store gift cards should be delivered to The Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center Campus.  Items will be accepted Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday and Friday, and until 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Donations should be dropped off prior to the 5:00 p.m. deadline on Friday, November 15, 2019.

Over the past 16 years, the Community Services Department, with the support of businesses, schools and residents of Pembroke Pines, have provided full Thanksgiving Meals to over 1,100 families in need. Year-round contributions of nonperishable food items are accepted and then dispersed to those in need. The goal of these donations is to provide qualifying families with a hearty Thanksgiving Day meal.  For additional information, please call the activities desk at the center at 954-450-6888.
