Jazz in the Pines This Week

Pembroke Pines, FL – (September 17, 2019) The City of Pembroke Pines Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department welcomes residents, friends and guests to enjoy a Free Jazz in the Pines concert featuring jazz singer Shenita Hunt on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the plaza, at the Charles F. Dodge City Center located at 601 City Center Way in Pembroke Pines.

While enjoying the outdoors, the local community can experience the vibrant performance of Shenita Hunt.  There is plenty of room to set up lawn chairs, spread a blanket, grab some snacks, refreshments and enjoy the concert with family and friends.

No pets are allowed. All concerts are held weather permitting and are subject to change.

The City of Pembroke Pines Art and Cultural Division has brought back Live Painting Artists that will complement the featured musician.  The live painting artist accompanying this particular show is Marcos Conde.

A singer’s singer, Shenita Hunt uses her voice as a precious instrument to convey her depth as a musician. She is a native Georgian, which explains why her vocal range is steeped in southern gospel tempered by formal vocal training from The University of Miami. In 1991, she began her teaching career with Miami-Dade County Public Schools teaching chorus and piano. She is currently a music teacher and Fine Arts department chairperson at Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School.

In 2015 Shenita released her latest cd entitled, “Color My World,” combining soulfulness and razor sharp classical edge to her music.
