Pembroke Pines, FL – (July 30, 2019) Please join The City of Pembroke Pines for the Annual 9-11 Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony at the Pembroke Pines Memorial Park adjacent to the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way in Pembroke Pines, on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The event, which marks the 18th anniversary of the horrific events of September 11, 2001, is free and everyone is encouraged to attend.
The Ceremony honors the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on this tragic day and America’s First Responders, the men and women who bravely faced the terror attacks on the Trade Center Towers, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, PA. The program will include the Presentation of Colors by the City of Pembroke Pines Police and Fire Department Honor Guards, comments from City Officials and patriotic music from local school bands and area musicians.
This day is recognized by United States law as a National Day of Service and Remembrance and has been observed every year since that tragic day in 2001. Every year on Patriot Day, flags are flown half-staff, and fellow Americans observe a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. (Eastern Daylight Time) which marks the exact time that the first plane flew into the World Trade Center.
