Pembroke Pines, FL ( July 23, 2019) – If you have what it takes to be the next “Spelling Bee” winner, then join us for the Eighth Annual Senior Spanish Spelling BEE held in acknowledgement of National Hispanic Heritage Month. The competition will take place on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Main Hall of the Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center, located at 301 NW 103 Avenue in Pembroke Pines.
Prizes are awarded to the winner and both second and third place finishers. Those individuals interested in taking part in the upcoming 2019 spelling bee must be at least 60 years of age and should sign up at the Center’s Activities Desk prior to the deadline of Friday, September 6, 2019. The event is free for Center members, and a SWFP Membership Card is required to participate. National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place September 15 to October 15 to celebrate the contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central American and South America. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988.
