Pembroke Pines, FL (May 29, 2019) - The Florida League of Cities has selected the City of Pembroke Pines as the recipient of the "City Spirit Award" in appreciation of creating the "Raising Positive Children" initiative, an ongoing series for both parents and guardians of school-age children, educators and youth advocates to bring attention to and find solutions for the many issues that both parents and children face today at home and at school. They are hosted by the City, Pembroke Pines Commissioner Iris A. Siple, West Campus Charter School Principal Michael Castellano and the Education Roundtable Forum. Pembroke Pines will officially be presented with a trophy and special recognition at the commission meeting on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 6:30 p.m.
“With each presentation, we’ve had parents thank us for sharing such important information and addressing critical issues facing today’s parents and children,” said Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank C. Ortis. “We’re so grateful to Commissioner Siple, Principal Castellano and the Education Roundtable Forum for all their hard work in creating this community engagement program and educational series. I believe they have already begun to work on the 5th one.”
Additionally, The City of Pembroke Pines will receive special acknowledgement at the League’s annual conference, and will be showcased in the League’s award-winning magazine, Quality Cities, and on both the League’s website and social media outlets.
