Community Invited 
“Play:  The Art of Toys”
Free Art Exhibition at Studio 18 in the Pines 


Pembroke Pines, FL - (May 14, 2019) Visitors and residents of the City of Pembroke Pines are cordially invited to enjoy the opening event of “Play: The Art of Toys”, a free Art Exhibition, at Studio 18 in the Pines.  Located at 1101 Poinciana Drive in Pembroke Pines, the exhibition runs June 21, 2019 through August 7, 2019. Everyone is welcome to attend an opening reception being held on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 7 p.m. which includes an evening of wine, refreshments, prizes, fun, musical entertainment by DJ Gruvvn and an opportunity to meet the artists.
 
Featured Artists include:  Ana Aguerrevere, Elaine De La Mata, Dante Dentoni, Dana Donaty, David Goboff, John Gumble, Beth Kapi, Ashley Mady, Kurt Marquart, Noelle Mongcopa, Alicia Padial, Dani Pizzato, Raymond Potter, Bunny Sheffield and Gloria Wu.
 
"Sparking the imagination of the young and young of heart, toys are the gateway to endless possibilities for play, learning and creativity," said Michael Edelberg, Curator/Community Engagement Coordinator for Studio 18.  "We welcome everyone to join us as we discover the artistry behind the toys we love, including Lego Sculpture, automated K’nex  constructions, toy themed paintings and photography, hand-made dolls and so much more.”
 
In addition to the exhibition, there will be a free workshop with artist Brett Butler: “Characters in Search of a Dollhouse” on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Participants will learn Doll/Action Figure Photography techniques, including Visual Storytelling, Storyboarding, Indoor/Outdoor/Black & White/Infra-Red Photography, Camera Mode/Settings, Natural/Artificial Light, and Collaboration with Others.  This is a beginners’ workshop and materials will be provided.  For more information or to RSVP, please contact Michael Edelberg at medelberg@ppines.com or call 954-961-6067 no later than Wednesday, July 10, 2019.  Space is Limited and participants should bring their own camera. 
 
The community is welcome at Studio 18 in the Pines located at 1101 Poinciana Drive in Pembroke Pines any Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. The art gallery is closed on Federal Holidays.
