Pembroke Pines, FL (April 23, 2019) – It’s Right Around The Corner as the City of Pembroke Pines cordially invites families, friends, residents and guests to celebrate the city’s 59th Birthday on Pines Day being held this Saturday, April 27, 2019 from noon to 6:00 p.m. on the plaza at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way in Pembroke Pines.
A large variety of exciting activities, with the theme "Pembroke Pines is Out of this World," will highlight a fun-filled day of celebrating, which will include the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science and the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium joining in the festivities with two indoor portable Planetariums. Participants can take a trip through outer space and discover educational facts about the galaxy. Children will have an opportunity to explore the solar system with hands-on projects and interactive activities related to their voyage through outer space. There will also be free rides for the kids as well as free cotton candy and popcorn. The Children's Stage will make sure the party never stops with over 400 performers dancing and entertaining throughout the day.
In the Great Hall, there will be a Kids Konnection Business Expo, featuring child-friendly businesses that will keep both parents and kids up to date of what there is to do in Pembroke Pines and other nearby areas. Vendors will have a wide assortment of goodies to giveaway, including raffles and goody bags, for those who visit their kiosk.
Additionally, The Royal Court Pageant, which includes both The Little Miss Sweetheart and Miss Pembroke Pines, will take place inside the City Center Commission Chambers where a queen and princess will be crowned in each age category. Participants must be Pembroke Pines residents, ages 3-5; 6-8; 9-12; and 13-16. The pageant will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m.
Lastly, a 10-foot Birthday Cake will be on display inside the lobby at the City Center. At 5:00 p.m., visitors are invited to the “Party on the Plaza” Cake Cutting Ceremony where everyone can indulge their sweet tooth and enjoy a piece of cake. Those interested in something more than a piece of cake are able to purchase food and drinks at the concession stands located inside the City Center throughout the duration of the festivities. Admission and parking are free. No pets are permitted.
