Pembroke Pines, FL (February 6, 2019) - Pembroke Pines Charter High School Seniors and Southwest Focal Point (SWFP) Senior Citizens put their spelling knowledge to the test and enjoyed a friendly competition during the Fourth Annual “Seniors vs Seniors” Spelling Bee held in the main hall at The Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center Campus located at 301 NW 103 Avenue in Pembroke Pines (off Johnson Street, one block west of Palm Avenue).
This year’s winner, Lilly Mazurek, won First Place by spelling the word Homonym correctly. The Second and Third places and prizes were awarded to Edward Riccardi and Brandon Causing. The First Place winner was presented with a certificate of recognition and a cash prize of $50. The Second Place winner received $30, and the Third Place winner received $20. Lastly, the 2019 Winners will get their names engraved on a perpetual cup trophy and bragging rights for the upcoming year.
