Pembroke Pines, FL (February 4, 2019) – Nearly a thousand people were in attendance for a fun night as runners raced to the finish line at the second annual Pines Light Up the Night 5K Run, sponsored by the City of Pembroke Pines and Calvin, Giordano & Associates, on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way in Pembroke Pines.
The February 2, 2019 event included neon lights and RUN/LED bracelets that changed color with each mile the runners completed. As friends and family cheered, more than 800 runners participated in the competition which benefited the City of Pembroke Pines Charter School Foundation. Upon completion of the race, contestants’ bracelets showed a variety of colors once they passed under lighted arches and disco balls on the plaza of the City Center. Each participant received an LED light changing bracelet, glow necklace, pull string back pack, a free T-shirt or razor tank and much more. Additionally, post-race festivities included a DJ playing the best of 60’s and 70’s tunes, free food samples from local restaurants, giveaways and raffle prizes. Lastly, free beer was provided for the runners 21 years of age and above for the 6:30 p.m. event.
