Because city government is the government closest to most citizens, and the one with the most direct daily impact upon its residents, it is important that residents understand how their city operates, the services it provides and the importance of their active involvement. The theme
“My City: I’m Part of It, I’m Proud of It” will guide this year’s event.
“You may be seeing me in a new light,” said Mayor Frank C. Ortis. I’m looking forward to meeting with residents and businesses and help them become more informed about the many services we provide. It’s also an opportunity to visit our beautiful City Center, and have residents share thoughts and questions with us. I’d love to meet you.”
Florida City Government Week, sponsored by the Florida League of Cities, is a weeklong celebration that raises awareness about the importance of municipal government and its daily impact on residents. The League is the official organization of the municipal governments in Florida.
