Pembroke Pines, FL (October 23, 2018) – All ages are welcome at the 17th Annual Storybook Festival on Saturday November 17, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Pembroke Pines Southwest Regional Library located at 16835 Sheridan Street in Pembroke Pines. The free Storybook Festival brings together children’s literature, fantasy, art, music, dance, performances, storytelling and the joys of reading into a fun and unforgettable day. The first 1,000 children in attendance will receive a free book. Children are encouraged to arrive at the Festival in costume to participate in the Story Book Parade which gets underway at 11:00 a.m.
This year’s theme, “Let’s Go Fly a Kite,” is in celebration of the magic of Mary Poppins, encouraging everyone to follow their dreams and bring out their inner child.
Festival Performances include: Tales by Storytellers Katy Adams and Pat Nease, Magician Brent Gregory will entertain the crowd with a classic magic show and a bit of comedy; and Children’s entertainers Noam Brown of the Kids Music Circle, Suzy Hammer as Pumpkin Patty and Marci Poppins will entertain and engage families. Music will be provided by the City of Pembroke Pines Charter High School Marching Band and the Recreation and Cultural Arts Division.
Festival Activities include: Children will enjoy free face painting, an arts and crafts tent, meeting storybook characters in the Fantasy Forest, participating in the Storybook Parade, a fire truck, if available, and enjoy the “swappin’ ground” area where children can tell their own stories. Additionally, parents can bring cameras to take photos at the “official” Storybook Photo Spots. Food trucks will be on the grounds, selling delicious treats all throughout the day.
The Storybook Festival is funded through the Broward County Public Library Foundation with support from the City of Pembroke Pines and sponsored by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, friends of Southwest Regional Library and Broward Family Life Magazine.
