Pembroke Pines, FL  – Time is running out for City of Pembroke Pines children ages 15 years and younger to register and get their wristband for the Ninth Annual Mayor’s Kids’ Day event hosted by Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank C. Ortis.  The fun-filled Mayor’s Kids’ Day begins approximately at 7:00 a.m. on Friday June 15, 2018. Children 15 years of age and younger that are pre-registered and wearing the official Mayor’s Kids’ Day wristband have an opportunity to search for deals and giveaways from local businesses throughout the city. Some of the things they might find include free bowling, swimming, haircuts, ice cream, mini golf, cookies, breakfast, and more. Businesses will also offer discounts on purchases, food samples, raffles and more.

“All of our children should feel like VIPs on this special day,” said Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank C. Ortis.  “This is a great opportunity for them to explore our great city by visiting participating businesses and then join me for lunch at City Hall.”

At a new location this year, the Mayor will host a fun filled  lunch for the children from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way. They can challenge the Mayor in a City Trivia game for prizes, visit with both fire and police personnel, as well as mascots from several of the sponsors. Before lunch, kids are encouraged to visit the BrightStar Credit Union at 12405 Taft Street to receive a ticket to be selected for a chance to be a winner at the money machine, which will be filled with valuable prizes at the lunch. Baptist Medical will be providing a 15 minute Get Active Zumba class during the lunch, and a special “what’s on your plate” activity that everyone will enjoy. Other new activities and surprises are also planned for this year’s lunch event.

Additionally, The Broward County School Board has signed up with their Literacy Program and will be handing out 500 FREE books to encourage summer reading.

Pre-registration is required. Residents can sign up at numerous locations throughout the city, including the Pines Recreation Center, Rose G. Price Park, Town Gate Park, the Pembroke Lakes Tennis Center, and the Charles F. Dodge City Center.

Pembroke Pines businesses supporting the dawn to dusk event include Baptist Health South Florida, Brightstar Credit Union, Subway, Publix, American Pediatric Dental, Naidu Orthodontics, Petland and many more.  You can find the sponsors in their entirety on the City website at www.ppines.com and our Special Events page on Facebook.
