11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Pembroke Pines, Fl - On Friday, June 22, 2018 The Recreation and Cultural Arts Department will be hosting the Mayor’s Play Ball Summer event in conjunction with the United State Conference of Mayors (USCM) and Major League Baseball from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Flamingo Park located at 1900 NW 122nd Terrace. The free event, which promotes youth baseball and softball, will feature numerous fun activities, food and music. The Play Ball initiative is for both boys and girls ages 7-14. There will be a Pitch, Hit, and Run Competition with separate age divisions, as well as groups for Beginners and Advanced players.
On June 20, 2015, Major League Baseball and the USCM launched a new Play Ball initiative that concentrated on the sport of baseball and encouraged sustained involvement in the sport for years to come. Play Ball serves as a platform to connect with those who are presently taking part in the game, while also providing alternative ways for those looking to get involved, with a specific focus on youth participation. The “Play Ball Summer” initiative focuses on the fun nature of baseball and promotes an active and healthy lifestyle for children around the nation.
Now through August of 2018, with the assistance of mayors across the country, Play Ball Events will be held with the goal of energizing communities and generating support and love for the games of baseball and softball.
