20th Annual ArtFest in the Pines
Pembroke Pines, FL (February 27, 2018) -- The 20th annual ArtFest in the Pines, presented by the City of Pembroke Pines and ArtServe, is a two-day celebration of art, food and fun for the entire family being held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 and Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way. Admission and parking are free.
This year’s ArtFest in the Pines is not only jam-packed with talented artists, fun-filled entertainment and tasty food trucks, festival-goers will enjoy live hands-on art demonstrations, a delectable farmer’s market, a student art competition, a kids art and game zone, free art workshops for kids of all ages at The Frank Art Gallery, and so much more.
The juried art festival boasts the best of South Florida’s fine artists and craftspeople, working in an array of unique and fine arts mediums such as Drawing, Jewelry, Mixed Media, Digital Art, Painting, Fine Handcrafts, Photography, Wood, Glass and Three-Dimensional Sculpture. Prize money for winning artists totals $4,500 with the “BEST IN SHOW” winner taking home $1,000.
Attendees will also be able to meet Artist Carl Erving, named this year's Festival Poster Winner at the 13th Annual Arts Competition for his work entitled "Serenity." His work will be on display and posters will be available for purchase.
ArtFest in the Pines will also offer the best in South Florida live music. Hosted by the dynamic duo, Josh the Man (aka Mr. Handle It) and the incredible DJ Diesel, the main stage promises something for everyone with live performances by Karina Iglesias -- who appeared on the national singing contest, “The Voice;” international recording artist and social entrepreneur, Alexander Star; the soulful voice and commanding stage presence of Emily Sheila; the reggae music of Inna Sense, and much more.
“Since this is our 20th anniversary year, ArtFest has really amped up,” said Holly Bonkowski, Division Director of Cultural Arts for Pembroke Pines. “We are so excited to be celebrating the growth in the program, feature even more talented artists, and showcase our beautiful new City Center, Frank Art Gallery and Main Hall Theatre. We are also thrilled to be working with the award-winning non-profit ArtServe, a partnership that allows us to help reach deeper into the local arts community to highlight the tremendous talent we have here in South Florida.”
