Pines Light Up the Night 5K Run a Success!

Pembroke Pines, FL  (February 15, 2018) -- Beginners to true runners participated in the Pines Light Up the Night 5K Run, sponsored by the City of Pembroke Pines and Davis Electric, on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way.

The night was aglow with neon lights and LED bracelets that changed with each mile the runners completed.  There were 650 runners participating in the event which benefited the City of Pembroke Pines Charter School Foundation.  Each runner received the LED light changing bracelet and a free T-shirt or razor tank.  Festivities, which included a DJ, food trucks, free dessert samples and giveaways, were enjoyed after the run.

"We are so happy that more than $17,000 was raised from the event," said Pembroke Pines Golf and Tennis Supervisor Traci Richards. "We're already starting to work on next year's event, opening up the registration to more runners and organizing even more fun activities."

The Pembroke Pines Charter School System, created and built by the City of Pembroke Pines, is home to four elementary schools, three middle schools and one high school housed on five educational campuses through the City.
