Register to become a Member of The Center, SWFP membership is free.  For information, about classes and events held at The Center, including rental availability please call 954-450-6888 and ask for the Activities Desk.

Monthly BINGO Nights with The Knights - January 16, 2018. Bingo and Free Refreshments at 6:00 p.m. on the Third Tuesday of each month hosted by the Knights of Columbus. Fee:  Packets begin at $15.  Save these dates -, February 20, 2018 and March 20, 2018.
 
“Wednesdays with Winston” - Enjoy Live Entertainment and Dancing on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 12:30pm in the Main Hall.
 
“My Big Fat Greet Restaurant” Lunch Trip -   Register in advance  for this trip departing The Center at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018. SWFP members only. 
 
“VETERANS DAY TRIP” to the S.W. Focal Point - The 2nd Wednesday of each month, we transport Nininger State Veterans Nursing Home clients to and from the SWFP Center where they can socialize with other SWFP members, participate in programs & activities, join a Veteran’s Support Group and enjoy live entertainment and special events!  Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 10:30am to 1:00 pm.

“Winter White and Silver” Dinner Dance with Live Entertainment - Dance begins at 6:30pm. Friday, January 19, 2018.  Fee: $10.00 per person - Buffet dinner at 5:30pm (reservations required) - Wear your most elegant white and silver ensemble. Prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed man and woman.   Entertainment sponsored by Site Advisory Council. 
 
“Music and Dancing” Live DJ - Wednesday, January 24, 2018 - 12:00pm, with DJ Mike Rapposilli in the Main Hall.
 
“Mounts Botanical Garden” Trip - Friday, January 26, 2018. Departs The Center at 9:30 a.m.  Nature lovers travel to West Palm Beach to tour the historic 14-acre living plant museum featuring 23 spectacular gardens. Stroll through a tropical paradise with ever-changing beauty.  Relax and become inspired while learning about the art, science and joy of gardening!  The garden named after Marvin U. “Red” Mounts, who served Palm Beach County farmers for over 40 years. Fee: $20.00 per person CASH ONLY – for registered SWFP members only.  Lunch on your own will follow at Don Café.   This trip involves a moderate amount of walking – wear comfortable shoes.
  
Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders help Kick of The Center Super Bowl 2018 Party Week - Join the fun on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 10am until 12noon, when  members of the 2017-2018 Miami Dolphins Cheerleading Squad visit The Center, sign autographs and take pictures! Bring your camera and meet the cheerleaders!
 
“Super Bowl 2018 Party Week” January 29, 2018 thru February 1, 2018 - SWFP members will enjoy a week of fun and games preparing for Super Bowl “52”!  All activities take place at 11:00am in the Main Hall:  Monday, January 29 - “Referee Balloon Pop” game with Prizes, Tuesday, January 30 - “Origami Football Challenge” game with Prizes, Wednesday, January 31 - “Blindfold Corn Toss” game with Prizes and Thursday, February 1 - “Football Obstacle Course” game with Prizes.
 
VOLUNTEERS TRIP TO THE VA NURSING HOME - The last Tuesday of each month, our dedicated group of SWFP volunteers travel to the Nininger State Veterans Nursing Home to socialize with clients, play games and provide activities. Tuesday, January 30, 2018. Trip departs Center at 10:15 am and returns at 12:15 pm.
 
“Entertainment Day” in the Main Hall - Wednesday, January 31, 2018 – 12:00pm. Sponsored by Site Advisory Council.
 
 

February 2018

“Segafredo Restaurant” Lunch Trip to Pembroke Gardens - Friday, February 2, 2018, departs Center at 11:00am. For registered SWFP members only. Restaurant will give all SWFP members a
10% discount off each meal! Must sign up in advance.
 
“Third Annual Seniors vs. Seniors Spelling Bee” – Tuesday, February 6, 2018 - 12:30pm in the Main Hall. The exciting Intergenerational Spelling Bee is a friendly competition between students from the Pembroke Pines Charter High School and the Senior Members of the Southwest Focal Point Community Center. 
 
“Wednesdays with Winston” - Enjoy Live Entertainment and Dancing on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 12:30pm in the Main Hall.
 
“Miami Bayside Marketplace” Trip - Indulge yourself at Bayside - the best food, fun and shopping Miami has to offer! Shop in the exotic outdoor marketplace or national name brand stores, and then watch the boats go by as you have lunch on your own at one of Bayside’s amazing restaurants or at their huge food court where there is always something delicious for everyone!  Register in advance for the Friday, February 9, 2018 trip, which departs at 10:00am. $2.00 per person - cash only, for registered SWFP members.
 
FLEA MARKET & BAZAAR - Public Invited - Free Admission and Parking.
Saturday, February 10, 2018 - 8:00am until 4:00pm, Sunday, February 11, 2018 - 9:00am until 3:00pm.  Over 100 indoor vendors  
 
Master Chef “CHOCOLATE CHALLENGE” - Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at 10:00a.m.  Register before February 9, 2018 for the Annual “Master Chef Chocolate Challenge” where cash prizes are awarded for the top three decadently delicious desserts!  Entries must be home made, include chocolate, be accompanied by the list of ingredients, Participants must be SWFP members and be a present to win!  Entry forms will be available at the Activities Desk. Deadline Friday, February 9, 2018!

“Ash Wednesday” Trip -Wednesday, February 14, 2018, departs the Center at 11:00am. Members will be transported to and from The Center to attend Ash Wednesday services at St. Maximillian Church in Pembroke Pines. Register in advance.

“Wicked” Theater Trip to Broward Center for the Performing Arts - Broadway and off Broadway Theater Trips are offered exclusively to registered members of The Center.  $70.00 per person. Price includes tickets (lower Orchestra) and transportation to and from the center.  Must purchase in advance at the activities desk. Thursday, February 15, 2018- 2pm matinee (trip departs Center at 12:30pm).
 
“Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens” Trip - Friday, February 23, 2018, trip departs at 9:30am. Fee per person is $17.00 cash only for SWFP members (transportation provided to and from center only). Lunch on your own or purchase from the café overlooking the gardens. This trip involves a moderate amount of walking – wear comfortable shoes.

“VETERANS DAY TRIP” to the S.W. Focal Point
Nininger State Veterans Nursing Home clients are transported to and from the SWFP Center where they can socialize with other SWFP members, participate in programs & activities, join a Veteran’s Support Group and enjoy live entertainment and special events! Third week this month due to scheduling conflicts. Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 10:30am to 1:00 pm.

“Tea Sampling and Raffle” - Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 12:00pm in the Main Hall. FREE! Relax and enjoy an assortment of teas. Raffle tickets to all registered SWFP members who participate. Sponsored by Humana.

“Academy Awards 2018” with Prizes - Awards Party takes place on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 11:00am in the Main Hall. Celebrate the 90th Annual Academy Awards SWFP Members will cast ballots to nominate their favorite “movie star” member in several categories. Oscar Awards and prizes will be presented to winners.
 
“Carabas” Lunch Trip - Friday, March 2, 2018, departs Center at 11:00am. SWFP members only. Must sign up in advance.
 
“Spoonful of Sugar” Contest with Prizes - Wednesday, March 6, 2018 - 11:00am in the Main Hall.

“Museum of Art” Trip -   Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Departs at 10:30 am.  Visit The Frank Stella Exhibition at the NSU Art Museum of Ft. Lauderdale. Lunch on your own in the Museum’s Café.  Fee: $10.00 cash only/ per person for SWFP members only.

Trip for registered SWFP members only.  Bring a bag lunch or purchase lunch at the Holiday Park Deli. Departs The Center at 9:30 a.m.

Spring Tea - March 28, 2018 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm.  RSVP required, register by March 14, 2018 - $18.00 per person. Gather friends or come on your own to enjoy a lovely array of tea sandwiches, decadent desserts and assorted afternoon teas!
 
“Butterfly World” Trip - Friday, March 30, 2018. Spring is in the air! Join us for this very popular trip where we walk among thousands of beautiful live butterflies! Explore the Tropical Rain Forest Aviary, Jewels of the Sky Hummingbird Aviary, Lorikeet Encounter, Butterfly Museum, beautiful botanical gardens and much more! Trip departs The Center at 9:30am. Fee: $22.00 cash only/per person for SWFP members (transportation provided to and from center only). Lunch available for purchase at the outdoor café overlooking the gardens. This trip involves a moderate amount of walking – wear comfortable shoes.
