"Honor Flight"
Volunteers Will Be Recognized at Lunch and Party!

Pembroke Pines, FL…July 25, 2017…Volunteers who assist in the WW II Honor Florida Flight Program will be recognized during a lunch and party this Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the City of Pembroke Pines Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center, 301 NW 103rd Avenue in Pembroke Pines.

Honor Flight Volunteers will enjoy an indoor picnic with burgers, hot dogs, desserts, music, dancing, shooting pool and more. The Honor Flight volunteers often see one another at meetings, during the Honor Flight trips and/or at other U.S. Veteran related events; rarely do they have the opportunity to sit down and actually get to know one another. “We wanted to show our appreciation to the men and women who regularly volunteer to assist our WWII Veterans on the Honor Flight,” said Jay Shechter, Director of Community Services and Housing for the City of Pembroke Pines.

“This party hosted by World War II Veteran Carl Shechter and his son Jay, will give us a chance to really get to know one another. I am looking forward to learning what called each volunteer to so passionately care about the Honor Flight,” stated Tom Christiansen, Honor Flight Volunteer Coordinator. “I ran into Carl at a play last Saturday evening and he is excited to be hosting this event.  It’s going to be a fun time!”
