Pembroke Pines, FL… June 21, 2017….. Summer Fun can be exhausting, especially for the 1,000 plus Kids who participated in the Eighth Annual Mayor’s Kids’ Day event hosted by Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank C. Ortis. Presented by Baptist Medical Plaza of Pembroke Pines, the fun-filled Mayor’s Kids’ Day began early, at 7:00 a.m. Kids 15 years and younger traveled all over Pembroke Pines visiting participating businesses who hosted games and gave away prizes, an assortment of free items from gifts and kids meal coupons to food samples, including milk shakes, fresh fruit and bundt cakes. Fifty Kids were given a free pass from Mayor Ortis to see the Pirate Island Show at The Frank. Pembroke Pines businesses also provided Bounce Houses, story time, a wacky photo booth, free haircuts, chicken nuggets, free Zumba, self-defense and dance classes, free swimming, tennis and golf, choo choo train rides and so much more. New this year were activities at the newly opened Charles F. Dodge City Center where the first 150 kids in line received goody bags and each kid was entered in a raffle to win “Shopkin Live” tickets in the Great Hall!
During the lunch with the Mayor, kids line danced and “busted” some moves to tunes played by DJ Joseph Sarli. “Mayor’s Kids’ Day is my favorite day! Our young residents have a wonderful time being Kids in our great City of Pembroke Pines,” said Mayor Ortis. Kids enjoyed hamburgers, hotdogs and delicious cake from Publix. During lunch, kids met and posed for photos with mascots Plato-saurus from Publix, “Cosmo” from Bright Star, “Mr. Cone” from Menchies, “J.J.” from Judy’s Bath and Boutique, Mr. Mustache from Fotolaughs and the Seahawk from Broward College. Pembroke Pines Police Officer Andrew Feldman and Pembroke Pines Fire Fighter Rick Scopa passed out pencils, helmets and stickers. Kids played City Trivia games for prizes and ten lucky Kids won a chance to enter the BrightStar Money Machine, a wind tunnel of prize coupons and cash. Following lunch, Kids and parents consulted their Mayor’s Kids’ Day Agenda and headed out for more fun, which concluded at 10:00 p.m.
“Our Pembroke Pines Mayor’s Kids’ Day event could also be called Best Day Ever for Kids. We are now in our eighth year and the businesses wanting to participate continue to grow. Businesses love this event because it introduces them to Pembroke Pines residents and Kids loved going to stores and receiving so many free items!” stated Francie Novo, Special Events Coordinator for the City of Pembroke Pines.“
