Pembroke Pines, FL…June 19, 2017…The Summer Events and Activities calendar at the City of Pembroke Pines Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center Campus, 301 NW 103rd Avenue, Pembroke Pines, FL is filled with activities for people ages 18 years and older. Membership at The Center is free and is required when signing up and participating in all classes, activities and events. July 4th B.B.Q.  - July 3, 2017 - 11:30 a.m.  Entertainment and prizes for best “patriotic” outfits – wear your red, white and blue! Free BBQ lunch for registered members of the SWFP Community Center only. First come, first served. Members must present SWFP membership card.
 
Miami Bayside Marketplace Trip - July 7, 2017 - Indulge yourself at Bayside - the best food, fun and shopping Miami has to offer! Shop in the exotic outdoor marketplace or national name brand stores, and then watch the boats go by as you have lunch on your own at one of Bayside’s amazing restaurants or at their huge food court where there is always something delicious for everyone! Friday, July 7, 2016, trip departs at 10:00 a.m. $2.00 per person CASH ONLY for registered SWFP members - must sign up in advance.
 
Czamplin Music School Performance - July 11, 2017 - 12:00 p.m. in the Main Hall.
 
Monthly Birthday Celebration - July 12 2017 - 12:00 p.m. in the Main Hall. Sponsored by Chen Medical Center.
 
Cracker Barrel Lunch Trip - July 14, 2017 - 11:00 a.m. FREE for registered SWFP members only.
 
Master Chef “Sweet as a Peach Baking Challenge – July 20, 2017 – Deadline to register:  July 18, 2017!  Entries must be home made and contain fresh peaches. Vicky Bakery chefs will judge the contest. Entry forms must be accompanied by the list of ingredients. Contestants (SWFP members only) must be a present to win!  Contest takes place July 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.  Cash prizes are awarded to the First, Second and Third Place winners. 
 
Gulfstream Casino Trip - July 21, 2017 - 10:00 a.m. $5.00 per person – CASH ONLY. For registered SWFP members only.
 
Community Event:  Summertime Tea - July 26, 2017 – Enjoy a lovely array of tea sandwiches, decadent desserts and assorted afternoon teas from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Registration Deadline: July 19, 2017. $18.00 per person (reservations required).
 
Entertainment Day with singer Alejandro Vargas - July 26, 2017 - 12:00 p.m. Sponsored by Site Advisory Council.
 
Museum of Discovery and Science and IMAX Theater Trip - July 28, 2017 - Departs 9:30 a.m. $18.00 per person - CASH ONLY, must be a registered SWFP member. Price includes Museum and IMAX Theater admission and transportation to and from the center only.  Lunch is on your own or purchase from Subway. This trip involves a moderate amount of walking – wear comfortable shoes.
 
Dolphin Mall Shopping Trip - August 4, 2017 - 10:00 a.m. $2.00 per person – CASH ONLY.  For registered SWFP members only.

Flea Market and Bazaar Benefit – Saturday, August 19, 2017 ~ 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 20, 2017 ~ 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Over 100 indoor vendors – FREE admission and parking.
 
Entertainment Day with Singer Debbie Orta – August 23, 2017 - 12:00 p.m. Sponsored by Site Advisory Council.
 
Flagler Museum Palm Beach Trip - August 25, 2017 - Experience America’s Gilded or Golden Age as you tour this 75-room mansion; learning about Henry Flagler and his effect on Florida and American History. Friday, August 25, 2017, departs 9:30 a.m. $17.00 per person - CASH ONLY, must be a registered SWFP member. Price includes Museum admission and transportation to and from the center only.  Lunch at Jersey Mike’s Subs (purchased on your own). This trip involves a moderate amount of walking – wear comfortable shoes.

Patriot Day - Remembering 911 - Monday, September 11, 2017 - 10:30 a.m. in the Main Hall.
 
Sixth Annual Senior Spanish Spelling Bee to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month - September 12, 2017 - 12:30 p.m. in the Main Hall. Prizes will be awarded to First Place, Second Place and Third Place winners!  Individuals who are interested in participating in this competition should sign up at the Activities Desk. Registration deadline: September 8, 2017.
 
COPACABANA Night Dinner Dance with Live Entertainment by Melina - September 15, 2017 - Get ready to party Latino style and dance the night away! Authentic Latin food will be served and entertainer “Melina” will be providing the music! Friday, September 15, 2017.  $10.00 per person. Buffet dinner at 5:30 p.m. (reservations required). Dance starts at 6:30 p.m. Sponsored by Coventry Health Center. 
 
BINGO with the Knights – Third Tuesday of each month 6:00 p.m. Provided by the Knights of Columbus. Packets start at $15, play all night.  September 19, 2017 and October 17, 2017.
