Seventh Annual Pill Box Pharmacies Flamingo Strut 5K and Kids Fun Run
Benefiting the Pembroke Pines Charter School Foundation
Pembroke Pines, FL…. April 10, 2017…This year running enthusiasts enjoyed a new addition to the City of Pembroke Pines Seventh Annual Pill Box Pharmacies Flamingo Strut 5K and Kids Fun Run: "Swag Village" a sponsor showcase. The annual race benefiting the City of Pembroke Pines Award Winning Charter School and its Foundation attracted over 200 participants this year and raised over $9,000. Competitors ranged from semi-professional to those new to 5K's. Following the race, runners enjoyed a buffet breakfast in Swag Village, an area where sponsors set up tents to introduce their businesses and or products to participants and gave away free items.
Prior to starting the race at 7:30 a.m., Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank C. Ortis thanked participants for supporting the Pembroke Pines Charter School Foundation. Runners ran into the cool morning breeze, down the tree-lined streets of Pembroke Lakes and crossed the finish line in front of the presenting sponsor Pill Box Pharmacies and Medical Supplies, where they received a bright pink commemorative Flamingo Strut ribbon/medal.
The Awards Ceremony recognized the First place male and female, Fastest City Employee, Fastest Charter School Employee and Fastest Fun Run child. The top three males and females received awards in the following age categories: 12 years and under, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over.

Fastest City Employee: Bob Aguirre (Third year in a row) 25:08 (2016 Time 24:17, 2015 Time 26:57.8)
Fastest Charter School Employee: Robert Lee 27:31
Fastest FUN RUN winner: George Reynoso 8 years old
"Our runners were amazed by the swag given out by this year's sponsors, the samples and giveaways were awesome," said Francie Novo, Special Events Coordinator for the City of Pembroke Pines. "It became an after party of sorts, people were having so much fun and our D.J kept the morning rocking!" Runners enjoyed or took home Bundt cakes, fresh juice, spice bottles, water bottles, pencil bags with school supplies, recycling bags and much more thanks to the Flamingo Strut sponsors Pill Box Pharmacies, Belfor Restoration, Chartwells, Planet T Uniforms, Memorial West, Nothing Bundt Cake, Cycle Bar Pembroke Pines, Bolay Pembroke Pines, Neurofit, Price is Right and A Healthy Dental Smile.
"We appreciate the dedication of Pill Box Pharmacies and Medical Supplies who have supported this fundraiser financially since its inception, and through the support of the Pill Box employees who either run or walk in the race. This year Ivette Guterriez a.k.a. Ms. Pill Box joined the race on a Pill Box Scooter," said Francie Novo, Special Events Coordinator for the City of Pembroke Pines. Proceeds from the race benefit The City of Pembroke Pines Charter School system, the largest municipally run charter school system in the nation, with seven campuses offering classes for 6,200 students from Kindergarten through twelfth grade.
