Pembroke Pines Plane Crash Heroes
Honored at Pembroke Pines City Commission Meeting
Pembroke Pines, FL (July 29, 2025) -- At a Pembroke Pines City Commission Meeting being held Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 6:30 pm, the Pembroke Pines Police and Fire Departments will present Life Saving Awards to the Pembroke Pines neighbors who rushed to rescue four people injured in a small plane crash that occurred while trying to land at North Perry Airport Sunday night, July 13, 2025. Per airport communications, the National Transportation Safety Board said the Cessna T337G was inbound to land at North Perry Airport prior to crashing a mile from reaching the runway for what they are currently saying are “unknown reasons.”
The Life Saving Awards will be presented to Boca Raton Police Detective Scott Hanley, Emanuel Llanguno, Eddy Crispin and Tarrance Sheffield for their heroism in saving the lives of plane crash victims Carlos Enrique Balza Cardenas, Fanely Maurette, and Carol and Nicole Balza. These heroes live just yards away from where the crash occurred and rushed to assist in the saving of the four people trapped in the crashed plane.
Broward County Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis will also be in attendance to recognize these heroes and first responders who immediately jumped into action to help. The plane crash victims were also invited to attend the meeting.
