Pembroke Pines, FL (January 9, 2025) – Studio 18 Art Complex in the City of Pembroke Pines will have many activities and events to enjoy in the month of January. On January 11, there will be a Mixed Media After-Image Workshop. In addition, all are invited to the opening reception of “Figure/Ground,” the inaugural members’ exhibition of the SOBRA Collective on January 24 from 7 pm to 9 pm. All activities will be held at Studio 18 Art Complex, located at 1101 Poinciana Drive.

Mixed Media After-Image Workshop | January 11, 2025
Join the Studio 18 Art Complex on Saturday, January 11, from 11 AM to 1 PM for an art workshop led by Melanie Olivia. In this hands-on workshop attendees will depict an "after-image" using watercolors and soft pastels. The cost is $5 per person and materials are provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring a reference photo with a lot of light which can be printed or saved on your phone.
FIGURE / GROUND: a SOBRA Collective Members Exhibition | January 24 – May 3, 2025
Celebrate the launch of this extraordinary exhibition at the Opening Reception on Friday, January 24, from 7 pm to 9 pm. Visitors will enjoy live music, refreshments, and an exclusive meet-and-greet with the exhibiting artists. Engage with the multidisciplinary arts community and discover the creative minds shaping Broward’s vibrant art scene.
This juried exhibition, which runs January 24 through May 3 and was selected by renowned jurors Sophie Bonet, Meaghan Kent, Dana Kleinman, and Lisa Rockford, features the work of 26 artists who exemplify a diverse range of mediums, techniques, and contemporary approaches. Figure / Ground marks an exciting milestone for SOBRA, a fast-growing network of over 50 visual art professionals dedicated to enriching the cultural fabric of Broward County. Selected artists include: Adam von Dolle, Addison Wolff, Angelica Clyman, Ben Morey, Carmen Smith, Christian Feneck, Daniel Listwan, Debbie Scott-Queenin, Deborah Perlman, Donna Haynes, Ekaterina Khromin, Elaine Defibaugh, Erica Mohan, Jeanette Lehn, Jen Little, Jill C. Weisberg, Joanne Pilar Corry, Julie Davidow, Kelcie McQuaid, Luke Jenkins, LuRu, Samantha Salzinger, Sergio Gomez, Sophia Lacroix, Twyla Gettert, and Yochi Yakir-Avin.
