Pembroke Pines, FL - (August 9, 2022) Please join The City of Pembroke Pines for the annual 9-11 Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony at the Pembroke Pines Memorial Park adjacent to the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way in Pembroke Pines on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. The event, which marks the 21st anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, is free and everyone is encouraged to attend.
The Ceremony honors the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on this horrific day and America’s First Responders, the men and women who bravely faced the terror attacks on the Trade Center Towers in New York, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The program will include the Presentation of Colors by the City of Pembroke Pines Police and Fire Department Honor Guards, comments from City Officials, community leaders, guest speakers and patriotic music from local school bands and area musicians. Additionally, both residents and guests are highly encouraged to tour the statues that are a part of the memorial park, created to ensure that this day is never forgotten.
This day, known as Patriot or Nine-Eleven Day, is recognized by United States law as a National Day of Service and Remembrance and has been observed every year since the catastrophic day in 2001. Every year on Patriot Day, flags are flown half-staff and fellow Americans observe a moment of silence at exactly 8:46 a.m. (Eastern Daylight Time) which marks the exact time that the first plane flew directly into the World Trade Center.
