Pembroke Pines, FL (March 29, 2022) – The Senior Spelling Bee is back! Registration is currently underway for the Tenth Annual Senior Spelling BEE at the Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center, located at 301 NW 103 Ave. in Pembroke Pines (off Johnson Street, one block west of Palm Avenue). It will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Center’s Main Hall.
The time is quickly approaching so start studying those dictionaries. Cash prizes of $50, $30 and $20 are awarded to the first, second and third place finishers, respectively. Additionally, the 2022 winners will have bragging rights for the next year. Contestants are given a word to spell, followed by the definition, and the term is also used in a sentence if necessary.
Those interested in participating in the 2022 spelling bee must be at least 60 years of age and should sign up at the Center’s Activities Desk prior to the deadline of Monday, May 9, 2022. The event is free for Center members, and a SWFP Membership Card is required to participate.
