Pembroke Pines, Fl (March 24, 2022) - The City of Pembroke Pines is pleased to announce their support for the growing Ukrainian refugee crisis by using the 17th Annual Art Competition as a platform to encourage artists to donate partial or total proceeds for the sale of their selected artwork(s) to the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The IRC, a 501 © (3) humanitarian aid organization, helps people affected by humanitarian crises to survive, recover, and rebuild their lives. Founded at the call of Albert Einstein in 1933, the IRC is at work in over 40 crisis-affected countries. It delivers a lasting impact by providing health care, helping children learn and empowering individuals and communities to become self-reliant, and always seeking to address the inequalities facing women and girls.
Artwork can be viewed at the 17th Annual Art Competition opening reception held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Studio 18 in the Pines, located at 1101 Poinciana Drive and throughout the run of the exhibition which ends on Monday, May 9, 2022.
Artists that choose to participate will have their worked “tagged” with a sunflower sticker symbolizing the national flower of Ukraine. The City will collect proceeds from the sale of their art through Friday, May 13, at 5 p.m. and in turn, send a check to the IRC. If anyone is unable to attend the opening reception or exhibition and still wants to make a donation, a check can be dropped off Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. or mailed to:
