Pembroke Pines, FL (January 18, 2022) – The Seniors vs Seniors Spelling Bee is back and quickly approaching! Those who think they have what it takes to be the next “Spelling Bee” champion are invited to register for the Sixth Annual Seniors versus Seniors Spelling BEE. The friendly competition featuring Pembroke Pines Charter High School Seniors and Southwest Focal Point (SWFP) Senior Citizens will take place on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Main Hall of the Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center, located at 301 NW 103 Avenue in Pembroke Pines (off Johnson Street, one block west of Palm Avenue).
Cash prizes of $50, $30 and $20 are awarded to the first, second and third place finishers, respectively. Additionally, the Winners will have their names engraved on a perpetual cup trophy and bragging rights for the entire year. Those SWFP members interested in participating in the 2022 spelling bee must be at least 60 years of age and should sign up at the Center’s Activities Desk. The event is free for Center members, and a SWFP Membership Card is required to join. Charter School Seniors will be from grade 12 and registered through their school in order to take part in the competition. Lastly, As the COVID-19 pandemic continues in the United States, the wearing of facemasks is required inside The Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center.
