Pembroke Pines, FL (October 13, 2021) - The City of Pembroke Pines is joining cities throughout the state in celebrating the 30 year anniversary of Florida City Government Week, a weeklong celebration that raises awareness about the importance of municipal government and its daily impact on residents. The annual event, celebrated October 18-24, is sponsored by the Florida League of Cities, the united voice for Florida’s municipal governments.
Because city government is the government closest to most citizens, and the one with the most direct daily impact upon its residents, it is important that residents understand how their city operates, the services it provides and the importance of their active involvement. The theme “My City: I’m Part of It, I’m Proud of It” will guide this year’s event.
“As we know, knowledge is power. Understanding how our cities and government work only helps each of us grow in our communities and live better lives. I encourage all of our residents to learn more about how their city works,” said City of Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank C. Ortis.
