The
best is saved for last at the Mayor’s Third Annual Chess Challenge being held
on May 19, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Pembroke Lakes Golf Club Nineteen
Restaurant, located at 10500 Taft Street. This is the last chess challenge
being held throughout Broward County as part of a free and friendly series of
chess meet-ups created to draw attention to the benefits of chess in both the
academic environment and in our community. Chess players of all ages and skills are welcome to play chess
with Mayor Frank C. Ortis, City Commissioners, Broward County officials,
community leaders and other players at this monthly traveling challenge.
Instructors are on hand to help those new to the game.
The chess challenges support Scholastic Chess, which
has been steadily growing throughout the years. Players at this Challenge will have their Mayor’s Chess Challenge
Passport stamped so they can log their participation. Those with perfect
attendance from all the challenges will receive a prize at the end of the
season. For
