City staff in conjunction with South Broward Drainage District (SBDD) plans on performing preparatory vegetation removal from the canal banks and vegetative detritus from he canal bottom during December. This will involve temporary lane closures on Taft Street and removal of the temporary privacy fence. The Canal Bank Stabilization will commence in January 2014 and be completed within the Spring.
December 3, 2013 — Start lane closure and removal of temporary fence. SBDD to start removing vegetation and debris from canal bottom.(Projected to take seven working days)
December 4, 2013 — Contractor will start removing vegetation and existing hedge material from canal bank. (Projected to take 13 working days)
December 10, 2013 — SBDD to start removing roots and stumps (Projected to take 10 working days)
December 24 to January 6, 2014 - No work Scheduled - all traffic lanes open.
January 6, 2014 — Commence Canal Bank Stabilization.
February 3, 2014 — Start top of bank permanent hedge replacement.
(As each 500 linear feet is available from canal bank stabilization process).
