[ARCHIVED] Temporary Change in Chlorination Process (Super-chlorination)

The City of Pembroke Pines will temporarily change its water disinfection process commencing November 30, 2015, by boosting chlorine with simultaneous hydrant flushing. This annual practice is to comply with the State of Florida requirements and to ensure that the City’s water supply is free of hazardous bacteria. Hydrant flushing minimizes the build-up of minerals and other sediments which, over time, can affect water quality. It also allows the water department to verify that fire hydrants are working properly and are available for fire protection. This process will end December 12, 2015. During this time, there may be reduced water pressure, the water may be discolored, have an odor or unusual taste. However, the water will be safe to use and drink. For questions please call the Public Services Department: (954) 450 6900 or (954) 986 5011.
