The City of Pembroke Pines continues to monitor Hurricane Ian and all storms throughout the Atlantic. Please continue to check with The National Hurricane Center for updates. As always throughout Hurricane Season, we ask everyone to remain prepared. For preparation information and resources, please visit www.ppines.com/hurricane. As a reminder, the days before a possible storm are not the time to trim your trees or bring bulk items to the curb. If possible, please refrain from placing new bulk trash items out. Unsecured debris can become dangerous projectiles during a storm, causing property damage and impeding the movement of first responders.
Be sure your emergency plan is in place and you have adequate supplies for everyone in your household such as:
- Water – one gallon per person per day for at least three days
- Food – at least a three-day supply of non-perishable items
- Manual can opener
- Disposable cups, plates, and utensils
- First aid kit and any prescription medicine required by family members
- Personal hygiene items
- Flashlights
- Radio (battery-powered or hand-crank)
- Extra batteries
- Cell phone with chargers and backup batteries
- Cash or traveler’s checks
- Copies of important documents – such as birth certificates and insurance policies
