The City of Pembroke Pines is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Ian. The National Hurricane Center advises that this weather system is expected to turn northwest this weekend and intensify in strength. While the path is not yet known,
- There will be some fluctuation in the forecast track over the next couple of days, so it’s important to maintain focus on the big picture until trends can be more confidently determined
- Timing and location of the turn to the NW and eventually N will play an important role in exactly where the center of the system will track over the SE Gulf
- Small changes in the track can make a BIG difference in impacts across South Florida
South Florida may experience effects such as tropical storm or hurricane-force winds and rainfall beginning on Tuesday evening -- again, the extent and location of impacts is still highly uncertain. We ask everyone to remain prepared. For preparation information and resources, please visit www.ppines.com/hurricane. As a reminder, the days before a possible storm are not the time to trim your trees or bring bulk items to the curb. If possible, please refrain from placing new bulk trash items out. Unsecured debris can become dangerous projectiles during a storm, causing property damage and impeding the movement of first responders.
