Mayor’s Kids’ Day is on Friday, June 17, 2022. This year's theme is "It's Sweet to be a Kid" in Pembroke Pines. Hosted by Mayor Frank C. Ortis, this fun day is held for Pembroke Pines residents/kids only, ages 15 and younger who are pre-registered by June 16, 2022 and wearing the official Mayor’s Kids’ Day wristband. Pre-registration for wristbands begins June 1st at Noon, is required and free. Wristbands are available at BrightStar Credit Union (12405 Taft Street Lobby Hours); Pembroke Lakes Tennis (10500 Taft Street Monday-Friday 8 am to 8 pm and Saturday/Sunday 8 am to 5 pm); City Center (601 City Center Way Monday - Thursday 8:30 am to 5:30 pm; and at TownGate and Price Park. Proof of residency must be shown when registering.
Wearing the special wristband entitles the children to hunt for deals and freebies from local businesses from Noon until the end of that business' day. Some of the things they might find include free bowling, swimming, haircuts, ice cream, mini golf, cookies, breakfast, and more. Pembroke Pines businesses will also offer discounts on purchases, food samples, raffles and more. The Mayor’s fun filled brunch for the children will take place 10 am to Noon at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way. They’ll be greeted by characters representing various city businesses, visit with fire and police personnel, and enjoy other new activities and surprises.
