This virtual exhibition by Studio 18 in the Pines (Jan. 15 - March 3) examines the concept of duality. “We experience this world as a duality, a contrast between two concepts or two aspects of reality -- order and chaos, day and night, masculine and feminine, positive and negative, I and me,” explained Studio 18 Curator Maritza Benson. “We only know light because of darkness. We better appreciate love because of fear. Life only has meaning because of death. Good and evil are polarities that exist as dualities and as potentials in all humans.”
This virtual exhibit features nine artists that share their personal exploration of the topic and how being in a world of seemingly opposing viewpoints leads to an examination of the self and our place in society. The artists include Lori Arbel, Jillian Blake, A. Emmanuel, Sandra Encaoua, Hope Ezcurra, Janet Gold, Carla Golembe, Reinaldo Lozano and Marki One.
