[ARCHIVED] Sewage Back Up Help

sewage

Following the passage of Tropical Storm Eta, some residents may be experiencing difficulties with your sewage system not functioning properly. The following are some helpful guidelines and FAQs regarding sewage back up and safety.

General precautions:

  • Do not let children play in flood waters as these waters may be contaminated by sewage.
  • Should your home toilets be affected, you should use household water as little as possible to prevent backup of sewage into your home.
  • Do not open your sewer clean-out (white plastic screw cap in your yard) and allow sewage onto the ground.
  • Do be patient; as the level in the toilet will vary throughout the day.
