With South Florida under a flood watch due to TS Eta which is expected to bring heavy rain and winds, the City of Pembroke Pines has opened a site at 1001 Poinciana Drive for residents to obtain free sandbags. Residents must show a photo id, like a driver's license, or show a utility bill with their Pembroke Pines address. Residents can pick up a maximum of 6 sandbags per vehicle and must be prepared to "do-it-yourself" in filling the bags. The use of shovels will be provided. The site is open today (Saturday) now through dusk (approx. 6 pm), and tomorrow (Sunday) from 8 am to dusk (approx. 6 pm), weather permitting, and while supplies last.
