Residents are encouraged to sign up for CodeRED, a high-speed telephone notification system that sends mass notifications by phone, email or text. In the event of a storm-related incident, utility outage, water main break, fire or flood, chemical spill, a missing child, or other emergency situations, the City may activate CodeRED to send emergency notifications to registered subscribers. The City may also use CodeRED to communicate non-life safety matters, such as planned road closures, water main repairs, water service interruptions, etc. Be sure that you’re in the CodeRED database, especially if you’ve traded your landline for a cell phone. It’s easy, fast and free to register for CodeRED by texting PPinesAlerts to 99411 or sign up on the city’s website at www.ppines.com and click on the “Alerts” button just below the homepage photo. When registering for CodeRED, there are also settings to subscribe to weather warnings, and note what type of alerts you’d like to receive, how to receive them and even alert sounds. Residents have been using CodeRED for emergency alerts since 1996.
