[ARCHIVED] Raising Positive Children: A Night of Hope

Raising Pos Children_web

As part of the City of Pembroke Pines award winning series Raising Positive Children, students, parents, grandparents/guardians, educators and youth advocates will have an opportunity to virtually experience “A Night of Hope” on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 6:30 pm via the city’s YouTube Channel under Pembroke Pines Media. As the special guest speaker, Nathan Harmon, founder of Your Life Speaks and internationally renown for helping youth discover a healthy outlook on life, will help in navigating various challenges especially during this global pandemic, and share how to bring back human connections, build bridges, and cope with a series of issues affecting today’s youth such as depression, isolation, and suicide. His powerful message, which resonates with all ages, comes from a combination of a troubled past and a great desire to help others. In addition to speaking at schools, universities, retreats and conferences, Nathan has a weekly podcast called “Real Life,” and is writing his first book. He is married and has two children.

Nathan speaks at universities, public & private schools, corporate and educational conferences, and retreats on many issues and has been recognized as the Top Booked School Speaker in 2017-2020 and keynote speaker on mental health, adapting to change, resiliency, substance use and overcoming struggles, habits, and adversity.

As with previous Raising Positive Children forums, there will be a very special performance by students, local resources provided, and key questions will be addressed. While this presentation is appropriate for all ages, parents may wish to excuse younger children after the first 15 minutes as Nathan introduces topics that may be more suitable for those in 5th through 12th grades.  This is the sixth in a series of presentations hosted by Pembroke Pines Vice Mayor Iris A. Siple, West Campus Charter School Principal Michael Castellano, the Education Roundtable Forum and the City of Pembroke Pines to call attention to and find solutions for the many issues parents and children face today at home and at school.

The Raising Positive Children: A Night of Hope presentation will first be available on the City of Pembroke Pines YouTube Channel (Pembroke Pines Media) or click here  on October 15, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.  For more information, please call 954-450-1030.

Go to www.youtube.com and put Pembroke Pines Media in the SEARCH bar or click here. We encourage everyone to subscribe for free to the city's YouTube channel.
