[ARCHIVED] Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration and Parade

Everyone is encouraged to join the City of Pembroke Pines in honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 19, 2026 from 9 AM to 12:30 PM at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way. There will be a special hour-long parade, held around City Center, which begins at 9 AM and is being led by Grand Marshalls, Mayor Angelo Castillo and Shauna Hicks-Lee. Following the parade, the celebration continues at 10 AM on the Plaza with speeches, dance performances, bounce houses, food trucks and music featuring the Deep Fried Funk band who will be performing from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.  Additionally on the Plaza, there will be family arts and crafts, various other fun activities, black-owned business vendors and food trucks.  For more information on this celebration to honor the man who had a dream, please call the Special Events Office at 954-392-2116 or visit www.ppines.com/specialevents

Please Note:  The following roads will be closed for the parade between 8:30 am and 10:30 am -- 103rd/ 106th and Entrance at Washington Street for the Center.

Also, City Hall is closed on this day in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Day.
