As part of the City of Pembroke Pines award winning series Raising Positive Children, parents, grandparents/guardians, educators and youth advocates are invited to experience a very special forum called “Parenting from the Heart – Developing Resilient and Successful Children” on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 pm at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way. The special guest speaker is Dr. Steven Pfeiffer, a licensed and nationally board-certified psychologist, author, speaker, and international parenting coach, who will introduce ideas that appear in his new book, Parenting from the Heart: Raising Resilient and Successful Smart Kids. Professor Pfeiffer will share with the audience his 40-year ‘detective story’ to discover three super traits – emotional intelligence, social skills, and character strengths, that together make a huge difference in children’s lives. Based on his work coaching hundreds of parents, Dr. Pfeiffer will also talk about Grandma’s Rule, which are easy-to-learn skills, attitudes, and behaviors that make parenting easier, more enjoyable, and more effective.
This forum will also feature a performance by our talented students, and community resources will be available to attendees in the Center’s lobby. This is the 13th in a series of presentations hosted by Pembroke Pines Vice Mayor Iris A. Siple, West Campus Charter School Principal Michael Castellano, the Education Roundtable Forum and the City of Pembroke Pines to call attention to and find solutions for the many issues parents and children face today at home and at school. Admission and parking are free. No Ticket is required; registration is encouraged.
